About Brookhold

What is Brookhold?

Brookhold is a UK company that helps care homes spend less on energy, food and supplies. It starts with a free savings check of a home's energy bills and its food and supplies invoices and, if the home wants, runs its purchasing afterwards with the home's existing suppliers. Brookhold is independent of suppliers: suppliers pay it nothing.

Who runs Brookhold?

Brookhold is led by Bosco Foulsham, CEO, who studied Economics and Management at Oxford and worked in equity research. More about Brookhold.

Where is Brookhold based?

Brookhold Ltd is registered in England and Wales (company no. 17505191), with its registered office in London. We work with care homes and care home groups in England.

Is Brookhold a buying group?

No. We work only for the home, and homes keep their own suppliers. Some purchasing services are free to the home because suppliers pay them rebates or commission. We take nothing from suppliers: no commission, no rebates, no referral fees. Any discount a supplier offers is passed on to you in full, and we only get paid when you save.

The free savings check

What is the free savings check?

We check your energy bills for VAT and Climate Change Levy errors, and every line of your food and supplies invoices for overpaying and mistakes. You get a clear report showing what you'd keep each year after our fee. The free check shows what you could save; supplier details and ordering come with the service.

What do I need to send?

Up to three months of supplies and food invoices, plus the latest electricity and gas bill for each meter. PDFs and phone photos are fine. You don't need to remove anything: we strip out resident details automatically.

How do I send them?

Upload them at app.brookhold.co.uk/start, or email them to check@brookhold.co.uk with your group name and roughly how many beds you have.

How long does it take?

Your report is ready within 2 working days.

Is it really free?

Yes. The check is free, and there's no obligation to do anything afterwards.

Do I have to switch suppliers?

No. Often the best saving is a better price from a supplier you already use, or catching an invoice that doesn't match what was agreed. Any change is your decision.

Energy bills

Is VAT on electricity 0% for care homes?

For qualifying use in Great Britain, yes, for now: HMRC says qualifying supplies of electricity are liable to VAT at 0% from 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2027 (HMRC VAT Notice 701/19). Gas stays at 5%. Our guide to the rules.

Do care homes pay the Climate Change Levy?

Usually not. Energy for domestic use is excluded from the levy, and HMRC's guidance (Excise Notice CCL1/3) counts homes for the elderly and disabled as domestic use. A separately metered office can be different.

Do you sell energy or switch our supplier?

No. We check your bills and deal with your current suppliers. Suppliers don't pay us a penny. You do, so our only incentive is getting you a better deal.

Food and supplies

What do you check?

Food and drink, catering disposables, gloves, aprons, PPE and continence products, cleaning and laundry chemicals, paper, wipes and hygiene. We also catch price creep, duplicate charges, and arithmetic and VAT errors. More on food and supplies.

Can you run our ordering?

Yes, if you'd like us to after the check. We place supplies and food orders with your existing suppliers, check every price, flag short deliveries and price creep, send invoices to Xero or QuickBooks already coded, and send one statement a month.

Fees

How much does Brookhold cost?

The check is free. If you'd like us to run your purchasing afterwards, food included, our fee is a fixed monthly amount per bed, set at no more than a third of the savings your check finds, so you keep at least two-thirds. There's no minimum term (30 days' notice), and you never pay us more than we've saved you. For energy, our fee is 20% of the VAT and Climate Change Levy overcharges we recover, so you keep 80%. Correcting your future bills costs nothing.

Do suppliers pay Brookhold?

No. Some purchasing services are free to the home because suppliers pay them rebates or commission. We take nothing from suppliers: no commission, no rebates, no referral fees. Any discount a supplier offers is passed on to you in full, and we only get paid when you save.

Is there a minimum term?

No. You can leave with 30 days' notice.

Your data

What do you do with my invoices?

We use them only to prepare your savings check. We don't sell your data or share your prices with suppliers or other homes, and we'll delete your files whenever you ask. You don't need to remove resident details: our system strips them out automatically. See our data terms and privacy notice.

Is Brookhold registered with the ICO?

Yes. Brookhold Ltd is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office, registration number ZC268203.
